A recent browse along the shelves of the local charity shop revealed this pale green jug by Johnson Bros. I was undeterred by its grubby appearance, and a good wash has revealed a lovely glossy glaze.
Of course jugs are meant for pouring, but I can’t resist them as containers for flowers. This one, with its generous, bulbous shape, just calls for some spring blooms. Too low for tall stems in water, it instead makes a perfect planter.
Luckily we have an abundance of snowdrops, and lifting a few from the garden to bring indoors goes unnoticed.
I am now on the look out for other similar containers, as I think they would go down a treat for Mother’s Day.
