At Medley Manor Farm on the floodplain of the Thames, the raspberry canes are decked with garlands of bryony. Star-like flowers are already turning to fairy light berries as August draws to a close. In the late afternoon we wandered up and down the rows of fruit, carelessly plucking juicy pink berries from their creamy-white cones. The sweet-sharp taste of the raspberries is fitting for a fruit that takes us from sunny days in to late summer. We had to hunt hard for these treasures, but it was worth it – eaten my favourite way, laced with runny honey and smothered in Greek yoghurt.
